In the world of art and theatre, there is a belief that art should not merely represent reality, but actually change it.

This is an understandable desire. However, it often results in art becoming subservient to the logic of politics. It does not change reality, but adapts to it. The consequence is didacticism. The suspense of a CPSU party conference under Brezhnev.

All of the works we are showing at this year's Documentary Platform have a direct connection to reality. But instead of adopting its language, they dare to take the leap into the radical poetic. Carolina Bianchi's piece «The Bride and The Goodnight Cinderella», with which we are opening this year's Documentary Platform, penetrates politics and blows it up from within. It eludes all labels and is shameless in its intention to be vulnerable with the greatest possible artistic dedication. Could this be a form of radical humanity?
