Accessibility
Kaserne Basel is committed to making as many performances and offerings as possible accessible to all visitors. Our team is totally committed to constantly improving disabled access and we are always open to constructive suggestions as to how we can improve the services we offer.
Our current offerings at a glance:
Disabled access / Disabled toilets
All event spaces at Kaserne Basel (Reithalle, Rossstall I and II) as well as the KaBar are located on the ground floor and fully accessible for wheelchair users. Disabled toilet facilities are available on site (Eurokey).
Admission prices
To make as many performances and offerings as possible accessible to all visitors, we have adapted our price system! Visitors have the option to choose the admission price from three price levels: CHF 15/ 25/ 35*
*Except concerts, festivals and special events. Personal assistants enjoy free admission.
Wheelchair spaces
Kaserne Basel has a limited number of wheelchair spaces. To guarantee a space, it is a good idea to book early. This is best done two days before a performance by phone on +41 61 6666 000 or by mail to buero@kaserne-basel.ch. Unfortunately, wheelchair spaces cannot be booked online.
Surtitles
With a few exceptions, all foreign-language performances are with German and/or English surtitles. We provide information on the respective language of each event and whether surtitles are available.
Hearing assistance
An induction loop is provided for some events. Events featuring an induction loop are clearly marked with the induction loop symbol. The signal can be picked up with the help of your own hearing aid. Please book this service in advance at buero@kaserne-basel.ch.

Experience theatre, discover opera
- the package for blind and visually impaired people
Kaserne Basel and Theater Basel offer a joint package for blind and visually impaired people in the 2023/24 season.
Together we will visit two selected productions as part of a group, one at each site. In addition to technical accessibility through (alternative) audio descriptions and tactile introductions, the aim is to provide deeper access to the contents of the offerings. Our goal is to introduce the performances, to engage in discussions about their forms and aesthetics and to contextualise them within the realm of contemporary theatre and opera. Whenever possible, the respective artists will also be present to talk about their work and answer any questions that arise.

Description of venues for people with visual impairment
The main entrance to Kaserne Basel is located to the left of the KaBar on the Kaserne site, between the outdoor terraces of the KaBar. The door leads into the large entrance lobby of Kaserne Basel. On the left-hand side are first the doors to the Eurokey toilets and a little further back the door to the event spaces. On the right-hand side is the box office, which opens one hour before the start of a performance. Behind the box office is a staircase that leads down to the basement to more toilets and the backstage area. A handrail is provided on one side of the stairs. The entrance, Eurokey toilets, box office and event spaces are all located on the ground floor. If you are standing in the lobby with your back to the box office and walk diagonally across the room in a 2 o'clock direction, you reach the door to the event spaces. Rossstall 2 is situated directly behind this door. In Rossstall 2, there is initially a small hallway that leads to the audience seating area after roughly four steps. On the left-hand side, you will find chairs and small tables, while a lounge area awaits on the right. In the centre of the room, there is a small stage on the right and the doors to Rossstall 1 on the left. At the rear of Rossstall 2, there is an event bar, which is open before and after each event. The entrance to the Reithalle is located on the right behind the bar at the end of the room. Rossstall 2 is therefore situated in the middle between all the event spaces.
