Seven young people decide to share themselves with the world. So far, so commonplace.

But the fact that they set themselves the task of finding a common expression seems to have fallen out of time in a society focused on individuality. How to be individual and still be part of a group? How to stand up for yourself and still collaborate? Even in Switzerland, which never tires of praising its ability to compromise, collaboration is all too often limited to group work at school. This should change in the WRITERS' ROOM - cooperation is mandatory here. Only then can something be created that everyone can get behind.

In their daily theater work, director Sebastian Nübling, musician Jackie Poloni and author Lucien Haug focus on creating a product processually and collaboratively. The title WRITERS' ROOM indicates that the new production is not about the creation of a play. Rather, together with the players, they embark on a search for development opportunities for the untrained muscles of social cohesion.

After «born to shine» and «Dämonen», Sebastian Nübling's new play is coming to the Kaserne together with musician Jackie Poloni and author Lucien Haug.

Lucien Haug will rewrite the steps to this theater evening every night. Jackie Poloni and Sebastian Nübling will develop new tasks every day, focusing on the path rather than the result.

The encounters in the rehearsal room turn the self-evident deletion from the digital world into an overwriting in the everyday world of things.

Writing Workshop with Lucien Haug November, 20

Biografie

Sebastian Nüblings is constantly reinventing himself in his productions - especially in the productions he creates with the junges theater basel. In a co-production with the Schauspielhaus Zurich, for example, the work S A N D had young performers perform on 40 tons of sand. SWEATSHOP transformed the fast-fashion craze into a nightmarish series of images and in «born to shine», many young people played their way out of their social networks to become socially engaged. In collaboration with Basel director Boris Nikitin, he and the cast of young Basel actors created the masterpiece «Demons», which can now also be seen in a Berlin version at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.

Lucien Haug started as an actor at the junges theater basel and, after studying literary writing in Biel, wrote theater texts for theaters in Basel and Zurich. He teaches collective writing in Biel. For WRITERS' ROOM, he does not present a text at the beginning of rehearsals, but is at the rehearsal every day and feeds his writing from the players' improvisations.

Jackie Poloni has had formative experiences with collective working methods in the visual arts and music. Abandoning her own skills in favor of non-hierarchical collaboration is particularly interesting for this project.
