Baptiste Cazaux turns everything upside down. With wild and raw energy, they dance as a DJ would make samples, genres and references clash. That’s twisted is a haunted and heterogeneous collage of dances and sounds from different eras: a psychedelic strategy to transcend nostalgia.

Britney Spears sings: Keep on dancing 'till the world ends, Ke$ha says: The party don't stop, and LMFAO shuffles through a deserted, devastated New York after a dance epidemic that drove people mad.

Drawing on a nostalgia for 2010s pop anthems—infused with nihilism and a bittersweet, joyful fatalism in the face of an uncertain future—the piece is rooted in a contemporary melancholy that Baptiste Cazaux seeks to transcend.

That’s Twisted treats listening as a living, shifting material. By shaping it, the piece creates a hybrid space where time, emotions, and intensities fall out of sync, blurring the perception of reality.

This sensory drift weaves together memory and disorientation, revealing a hazy landscape made of echoes, fragments, and constantly shifting presences.

Part of Tanzfest Basel.
