Experience Pantsula—one of South Africa’s most powerful and expressive street dance styles. Born on the dusty streets of the townships as an act of rebellion during apartheid, Pantsula remains a dance full of speed, precision, and attitude. It tells stories of everyday life, resistance, community, and the joy of living. The dance group Fishers of Man Arts Project from South Africa brings this vibrant culture to the stage of the Tanzfest Region Basel. With impressive synchrony, explosive energy, and great authenticity, the dancers demonstrate what Pantsula means—then and now. Let yourself be swept away by rhythm, movement, and passion—and experience Pantsula in all its intensity.
Fishers of Man Art Projects is a South African dance troupe and nonprofit organization based in the Katlehong township that supports young people through dance, music, and performance.
