Why are artists able to convince their audience of constructed truths? How do entire worlds of meaning arise on an empty stage? Where is the line between art and demagoguery? As the band The Demo Tape, Alma Toaspern and Mathias Monrad Møller explore musical make-believe in real time. Between live and recorded music, dance, pseudo-guru-like sessions, and demagogic gestures, the audience becomes part of an experiment: How do fictions become believable—and performers charismatic?

toaspern|moeller was founded in 2020 by choreographer and dancer Alma Toaspern and composer and singer Mathias Monrad Møller. As an interdisciplinary company, they explore the question of what it means to be human today. Their previous works ERNST, LIEBE, and __plex have been co-produced and toured nationally and internationally. Alma is a LAB Artist at Kaserne Basel for the 2025/2026 season.
