THIS BODY IS THE ONLY LAND I KNOW is a work-in-progress choreographic project by Nigerian artist and movement practitioner Oluwabukunmi Olukitibi , developed during her Pro Helvetia residency at Kaserne Basel.
The work investigates the body as the first and only land we truly inhabit - a living archive of memory, displacement, and resilience. Drawing from psychosomatic practices, somatic inquiry, and ritual movement, the performance unfolds as a cartography of gestures, scars, and breath that speak to histories of migration, belonging, and reclamation.
In this sharing, Oluwabukunmi offers fragments of her ongoing process, tracing the body as both landscape and border, and exploring what it means to carry home within flesh and to reimagine land through embodied memory.
The presentation will be followed by an aftertalk inviting the audience into dialogue around the themes of embodiment, territory, and care.
