As part of Épique! (pour Yikakou), choreographer and dancer Nadia Beugré invites you to a special dance workshop. The focus is on the term “Shrift” – shrinking – which she coined to refer to the strategies used in most countries on the African continent, where citizens invent the conditions for their future every day.
So how does one “shrink” in a space, how does one deal with the unexpected, the unpredictable, the obstacle, in order to get back on one's feet, to branch out, to adapt, to find one's way, to rebuild oneself?
The workshop invites participants to listen to others, to listen to the music of their bodies, to the space, to the visible and also, and above all, to the invisible, to the absent, to what we inherit, to what we take with us and leave behind.
Together, we will explore how to welcome the unplanned, let go, and embrace unknown movements and perspectives.
An invitation to anyone who feels like dancing their way into the unexpected.
