Redefining Masculinity, Part 2: Masculism and Radicalization

In part two of our series, we ask: How do young men and boys become radicalized? How does the so-called “manosphere” operate? What are incels, and above all: What makes all of this so dangerous?

Veronika Kracher, an expert on radicalization, anti-feminism, and misogyny online, will open the evening with a presentation on the manosphere, incels, and radicalization. Afterward, social worker Kambez Nuri (known, among other things, from the SRF podcast alpha boys) and SP politician Cédric Wermuth will join Veronika Kracher for a discussion. They will talk about developments in this scene, the situation in Switzerland, and how political action—including in private settings—can respond to it. The discussion will be moderated by Christoph Gosteli, a social worker and counselor at Mannebüro Zürich.

The three-part series “Renegotiating Masculinities” (April 21, 2026, May 5, 2026, and May 26, 2026) explores male socialization and the various images of masculinity that shape our society. It also addresses anti-feminist and right-wing (online) radicalization. The series examines how masculinist gender politics are utilized by reactionary forces. In doing so, we engage with both analyses and potential solutions. Together with various experts, we discuss findings from research as well as from practical work with boys and men.

The series is a collaboration with the Office for Gender Equality of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.
