A spectacular solo that induces trance - like an oracle. With sound by Aho Ssan.
Seated on a chair like an oracle, dancer and choreographer Kat Válastur projects percussive choreography throughout the space. She is carried by her own voice and by the sound of French musician and artist Aho Ssan, known for his dense soundscapes that blend electronic music and noise. Starting from the deep sounds of the semantron, a wooden percussion instrument, a continuous flow of movement, sound, and rhythm unfolds.
In her spectacular solo Dive into You, Greek choreographer and performer Válastur connects the figure of the oracle with processes of growth and transformation in nature. Set in an archaic-looking yet futuristic stage and lighting space, “Dive into You” becomes an intense physical experience—a dive into an in-between world and an invitation to collectively enter a kind of trance and follow one’s own inner images.
Dive into You is our contribution to this year’s FOG Festival.
Duration: ca. 60 Min.
Sensory Note: This performance features strobe light effects. Fog is being used. There are passages with loud music.
Biografie
Kat Válastur is a Greek choreographer, performer, and singer based in Berlin and Athens. Her works blend rural, mystical, and spiritual elements of her heritage with an aesthetic that straddles the archaic and science fiction. Through dance, sound, and voice, she creates contemporary rituals that seek physical and spiritual transformation. She often uses specially crafted sculptural instruments as extensions of the dancers’ bodies. Her works have been presented internationally (including at HAU, Théâtre de la Ville, and Tanz im August) and supported by institutions such as the Hermès Foundation. She was a guest artist at Olafur Eliasson’s Institute for Spatial Experiments, an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), and has been a member of the German Academy of Performing Arts since 2022.
