The former director of the Alemannenschule in Wutöschingen demonstrates how students in the public school system can enjoy going to school...and how a dedicated educator is revolutionizing our education system.

Going to school without fear and stress, but with plenty of self-motivation, learning success, and joy? At the award-winning Alemannenschule in Baden-Württemberg, this is already a reality. Former headmaster Stefan Ruppaner has established a new type of school in the public school system, without frontal teaching, without fixed exam dates, without classrooms. Instead, children and teachers enjoy mutual appreciation, creativity, freedom, and modern teaching methods, detached from our conventional school model.

Stefan Ruppaner explains how his school of the future has become a reality and what changes are needed to make it possible everywhere.

Following the lecture, there will be ample opportunity for discussion, with various inspirations for our education system—from the example of the Alemannenschule in Wutöschingen to teacher training for the school of tomorrow to projects such as “Schule ohne Noten” (School without Grades), “Frei Day” (Free Day), and more...with concrete suggestions for taking action.

«Im Kopf von …»  is a series of discussions and reflections organized by Werkraum Schöpflin and Kaserne Basel. It invites contemporary thinkers to take us on a journey through their intellectual constructs—their research, doubts, analyses, and hopes. Together, we ask how we can not only withstand a crisis-ridden world, but also position ourselves in solidarity and resistance across borders!
