Glossolalia is a transcendent musical performance in which Zurich-based South African performer tracy september channels the spirit of her great-aunt Makhulu Bonani, a revered storyteller and healer. With influences from jazz, traditional Xhosa singing and electronic experimentation, she has developed an enigmatic, soulful sonic language that transports the audience into the ancient practice of speaking in tongues - not as a foreign language, but as a universal, spiritual dialog that connects us to our ancestors. tracy switches between voices, blurring boundaries of past, present and future and creating an intimate, otherworldly world. The audience is invited to a ritual of remembrance, listening and transformation.
