Gisèle Vienne is a master of playing with our perceptions and perspectives. With her works The Pond, This is how you will disappear, The Ventriloquist's Meeting, Jerk and The Pyre, the celebrated French choreographer thrilled audiences at the Kaserne. In her latest premiere EXTRA LIFE, which is celebrating its premiere at this year's Ruhrtriennale, she once again breaks up common schemes of perception.

At the end of a night of partying, a pair of siblings meet again whose connection was severed by a tragic event 20 years earlier. Three actors and dancers uncover all the layers and facets of this decisive moment: the past meets the future, memory meets fantasy. In Vienne's hypnotically precise work, body, light and music not only tell an intimate story, but also provoke a new awareness of our viewing habits and systems of thought.
