The artist and musician Garth Erasmus belongs to the Khoisan people, an indigenous group in South Africa considered the oldest surviving human population in the world. He designs and builds one-stringed bow instruments based on traditional Khoisan models. In his music, he combines these bow instruments with various electronic devices to create unique sound miniatures that lie somewhere between experimental music and free jazz. In 2024, a collection of these works was released on the album Threnody for the Khoisan on the excellent TAL label, run by Stefan Schneider (known from To Rococo Rot, Mapstation, Kreidler). On a small tour through Germany and Switzerland, he now presents this music together with an all-star ensemble featuring Micha Acher (The Notwist), Peter Thiessen (Kante), and Stefan Schneider.

Following the concert, there will be an artist talk between Garth Erasmus and Veit Arlt from the Centre for African Studies. The conversation will be held in English.
