Noura Mint Seymali, one of Mauritania's most prominent musical ambassadors, has been part of the Moorish griot tradition since the age of 13. Born into a renowned family of musicians and poets, she began her career as a backing singer for her stepmother, the legendary Dimi Mint Abba. As a child, she had already mastered the harp Ardine, which is reserved for women only, and performed at weddings. Encouraged by her father, Seymali experimented early on with the fusion of musical styles and developed her hypnotic sound, in which traditional instruments meet western psych-rock, funk, blues and the sound of the day after tomorrow. She is now presenting her music live at Kaserne for the first time, with her band and new album in tow!
