Porträt von Reya Wynn

MigrArt

Three queer refugee artists transform the world into a dance festival by using the body as a language. With rituals, music and often incomprehensible words, they awaken the mythological and shamanic culture of their home countries, including Shahmaran - a mythical being, half snake, half woman, double-crowned with a woman's head and a snake's head with phallic features. And the Babaylans - predominantly female spiritual leaders, priests or shamans, whose role can also be taken on by men. The performance invites you to discover the practices of gender reassignment and their historical significance in pre-colonial communities in the Philippines and Kurdistan.
