Swiss-Guatemalan artist Lorena Stadelmann, also known as Baby Volcano, truly lives up to her name as a force of nature on stage. Singing in French and Spanish, she delivers her words and voice over the top of heart-pounding bass and Latin-flavour rhythms. With a fierce attitude, feminist-driven lyrics and an unapologetic live performance, Baby Volcano is a must-see act!
SUPERVIVENXIA is Baby Volcano’s second EP, set for release in April 2025. The title is a blend of the Spanish words "sobrevivencia" (survival) and "supervivencia" (super-alive), encapsulating the EP’s essence: living life fully, embracing its sorrow as much as its joyous madness. "For me, being 'super-alive' is about feeling deeply, facing life head-on, and channeling both vulnerability and energy," says Baby Volcano. "SUPERVIVENXIA is a fictional space, a mindset, a vibe. It’s a talisman to help navigate personal and global challenges. These tracks are as fiery as they are soothing, bursting with positive energy and raw emotion." A Personal and Transformative Creation "I created 90% of this EP alone, in my room. The past three years have been incredible and intense; everything happened so fast. I experienced amazing moments but also faced harder times. You need solid shoulders in this industry. Alongside my personal journey, I witnessed, from near or far, the weight of global conflicts and crises. Making this EP in this way was a form of protection, a way to process and keep going. It was a real challenge for me as a young musician—I desperately needed to build my confidence. In the face of reality’s hostility, I found refuge in fiction, in the music I was creating. Each song I made felt like an amulet, a burst of energy, or a blanket to wrap myself in. I wanted to create tracks that could accompany others and myself in those moments when the ground shakes. I wanted to celebrate, loudly and proudly, our anxieties, our tears, and our f***ing fire. I felt like I could make these songs with raw energy, playfulness, and a lot of love, humor, and depth. And that, to me, is precious."

SUPERVIVENXIA was written, composed, and primarily produced in 2024. Blending hybrid pop, experimental reggaeton, Latin music, and chanson, the five-track EP is a testament to Baby Volcano’s evolving artistry. Working from her countryside home studio between tours, she took full control of her sound. This creative independence reflects her commitment to artistic exploration and remaining true to her musical roots. In June 2023, she was invited to create a special show for BadBonn Kilbi Festival, assembling eight dancers and multiple collaborators. The experience culminated in a transformative moment during Marina Herlop’s performance: "Listening to Marina, I was overwhelmed with emotion. It was as if I could feel her entire artistic journey in the music. That moment affirmed my desire to do this for the rest of my life: to stay true to myself, keep learning, and let my music evolve freely." Baby Volcano collaborated with Gaspar Narby as a sound engineer, who recorded vocals on all tracks and provided additional production on Kurakaku and Olor a Fogata. Robin Florent handled the mixing, and Magnus Lindberg took care of mastering. Loris Vettese contributed as an assistant in artistic and sound direction. Melissa Phulpin from TomboyLab and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois from Sony Music Publishing serve as publishers. Jonathan Nido from Humus Records manages the project.
