Biography Mamu Tshi
Amandiner Tshijanu Ngindu, professionally known as Mamu Tshi, is a Congolese-born dancer, choreographer, and lecturer now based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Renowned for her excellence in krump, Mamu Tshi has earned the title of "Dancer of the Year" in 2020 in this powerful, expressive, and liberating urban dance form.
Mamu Tshi’s artistry integrates urban dance traditions with theatrical contexts. Since her debut at Théâtre Sévelin 36 in 2019, she has taken part in projects like the Portraits in Otherness series commissioned by Akram Khan Company and has performed her celebrated work L’Héritière (2022) across Switzerland. Her latest co-creation with choreographer Faustin Linyekula, a solo piece blending dance and theater, delves into her connection with her Congolese heritage and was performed throughout Europe, namely at Théâtre de Vidy (Lausanne) and Chaillot the Théâtre National de la Danse (Paris) in 2023 and 2024.
In addition to her performance and choreography, Mamu Tshi curates Like A Woman, a platform dedicated to elevating the female experience and creating opportunities for women within the krump scene. This initiative provides a space for women to explore, express, and share their unique voices in krump, challenging norms and fostering a supportive, dynamic community.
Driven by a commitment to transe and transmission, Mamu Tshi advocates for the integration of urban and underground art forms into mainstream stages. Inspired by childhood memories of familial dances and collective energy, she emphasizes the transformative power of movement in both her creations and workshops.
