Are «lifestories» perhaps the ones that are told over and over again? So also the ones about the first word, the first day at school, that important soccer goal or what you wanted or want to be when you grow up? Or maybe the little stories - about that stupid argument, your favorite swear word or those little moments of pride?
WE WANT YOU!
Are you between 8-10 years old and have always wanted to take part in a play? For our new production «My Story» we are looking for children who would like to tell their life story.
Between visiting your friends and riding dragons in the garden, we want to explore truth and fantasy. Between yesterday and tomorrow, between now and never, true and imagined. And what does that even mean - truth and fantasy? Who can tell the difference between the two, they're quite close together!
We rehearse together for three months at the Kaserne Basel. We do theater exercises, write texts together, act, sing and get to know the theater technology (light, sound, space). You will be on stage with your own stories, «real» and «made up» and somewhere in between.
The project is artistically directed by the theater group vorschlag:hammer. vorschlag:hammer has been developing performative theater productions for children, young people and adults as a collective since 2009.
Rehearsal effort & times:
We rehearse for one week during the fall vacations and then weekly until December. At the end there will be several performances in the Kaserne Basel:
- Workshop in the fall vacations 07.10.-13.10.24 (daily 10:00-15:00) - Weekly rehearsals on Thursdays 17.10./24.10./31.10./07.11./14.11./21.11.24 (each from 16:00-18:00)
- Final rehearsal phase: 25.11.- 02.12.24 (exact times to be announced)
- Performances on 3/4/5/12/24 Kaserne Basel
Participation is FREE for the children.
After the week in the fall vacations, the children and their parents/guardians need to make a binding commitment to the project, as we will then work towards the performances. For the final rehearsals, which to a small extent also take place during school hours, the Kaserne Basel prepares an exemption request for the school.

Biografie
vorschlag:hammer have been developing theater productions as a collective since 2009. In recent years, their performative narrative theater has opened up to a wide variety of aesthetic strategies, to visual-atmospheric or body-oriented works. They freely adapt existing material or develop research-based productions on ever new topics. From 2015-2025, vorschlag:hammer will receive top-level funding from the state of NRW.
The works of vorschlag:hammer have been awarded the jury prizes of the Körber Studio Junge Regie, the 100° Festival or the Best OFF - Festival Freier Theater, in 2017 Die Erfindung der Gertraud Stock received an invitation to the Impulse Theater Festival.
vorschlag:hammer cooperates continuously with the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr as a production base; other regular partner venues are Ballhaus Ost and ROXY Birsfelden. Cooperation with the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and the Schlosstheater Moers has also been established through the Doppelpass fund.
vorschlag:hammer studied cultural studies and aesthetic practice in Hildesheim, as well as acting in Bern and Zurich. The ever-complementary vorschlag:hammer core consists of Kristofer Gudmundsson, Gesine Hohmann and Stephan Stock.
